Sound Chemicals Management

AGENDA promotes advocacy, awareness, policy & legal reform and networking on sound management of chemicals(industrial and consumer chemicals; and pesticides). AGENDA carries out research and capacity building to communities and other groups in Tanzania on implementation of national laws and international conventions and agreements.

Sound Wastes Management

AGENDA works on promoting best practices and technologies for managing waste, hazardous waste and E-waste in Tanzania. Other areas of work include promoting policy and legal reform at National, regional and international levels; as well as promoting public awareness.

Sustainable Natural Resources Use & Management

AGENDA Promotes and Advocate for rehabilitation and conservation of degraded and/or natural resources including public awareness raising. AGENDA enhances capacity of community and stakeholders in rehabilitation and conservation of the natural resources.

Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation

AGENDA promotes awareness on climate change impacts, mitigation and adaptation options. It also identify and enhance capacity of communities and stakeholders on climate change impacts, mitigation and adaptation technologies and practices.

Institutional Capacity Building

To build human and institutional capacity for staff, members and other likeminded stakeholders by providing and facilitating utilisation of Best Available Technologies (BATs) and Best Environmental Practices (BEPs).

Organization Overview

AGENDA for Environment and Responsible Development (AGENDA) was established in 1994 as a three years project to contribute to the development of the business sector in Tanzania by promoting environmentally responsible, transparent and accountable business practices in the country with DANIDA support.

On concluding the project AGENDA was reconstituted as an autonomous Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and was officially registered in July 1997 by the Ministry of Home Affairs under the Societies Ordinance, 1954 [Cap.337 (as amended)] with Reg. No. SO.NO.9108. AGENDA received a compliance certificate No. 1518 of 2005 in accordance to the NGOs Act 2002.
